Chapter 1:[]

Moonlight was flying, flying home. Her mother was waiting for her patiently at home in their big nest. Snowfrost just did a patrol, Moonlight suspected. At this hour at night, Snowfrost was always on duty, making sure no LightWings were going to mess with the MysticWings. It wasn't fair that the MysticWings didn't have a lot of dragons. It wasn't fair that the MysticWings starved every now and then.

Well, Moonlight thought. That's going to change when I am ten years old. Moonlight flied across the sky, her silver feathers glowing from the moonlight. In a few minutes, Snowfrost was on the nest, siting down. Her lily green eyes locked with Moonlight's. Snowfrost waved, with a smile that sent warmth through Moonlight's aching body.

Moonlight flew down and looked at Snowfrost. "Where's Fluff?" Snowfrost lifted one of her elegant white wings and there was tiny little Fluff, blue and cheerful. "Ah, she's over here, a little sleepy but excited to see you after you 'flew off' to see the sunset. But, it took far to long, dear."

"Sorry," Moonlight said meekly. "I was just admiring the sunset; at age eight we can finally leave the nest! I was just so excited because I never saw a sunset before. It was SO COOL! But on the way, I stopped and looked at everything I saw. It was brilliant."

"Fluff flies like big sister!" a tiny, cheery, voice chirped brightly. "I fly super good!" Fluff's blue eyes were wide with excitement, perhaps mentioning that Moonlight can fly now was a bad idea.

Snowfrost cradled her in her talons. "No, my dear," she said soothingly. "They'll think you're a tiny dragonet, which you are, who is crazy. I recommend still staying in the nest, Fluff. You know the rules of our tribe, don't you? Or did you forget all of them?" she added worriedly.

"No. They will think Fluff is the best flyer in the whole world! Then they be jelly of me and ask me for apples!" Fluff replied cutely. Just then, Fluff's eyes started to droop and she nuzzled against her mother. Her tiny mouth opened and she yawned then fell asleep. After a few quiet snores, Moonlight said,

"She's sleeping now."
